Apple Crumble, I think has to be one of my favourite desserts. Its easy to make and is convenient to bake as you can have it cooking whilst you are eating your main course. Its very homely and just scrummy, so here we go.
450g Cooking Apples
50g Brown Sugar
1 tbsp Plain Flour
15g Ground Cinnamon
300g Plain Flour
175g Soft Brown Sugar
200g Butter Cubed
To begin with, lets make the apple filling. Core, peel and cube your apples, leave them quite chunky as they will disintegrate when cooking. Pop into a large mixing bowl and add in the sugar, flour and ground cinnamon, mix together with your hands until combined.
Set to one side whilst you make the crumble.
In a mixing bowl, pop in your flour, add in the cubed butter and rub it in until you get a breadcrumb consistency. Once done, add in the sugar and combine – that’s it!
Once your filling and the crumble are made, its time to combine them. This recipe will make around 8 individual puddings, or one large one.
Pop into the oven at 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4 for about 45 minutes until lovely and golden in colour.
Then serve with custard or ice cream and enjoy!
